System Administrator
firstPRO is seeking a highly skilled System for our client located in the Wilmington, DE area. In this role, you will play a vital part in maintaining a new Horizon VDI environment that supports over 100 users. You will work closely with the IT team, providing mentorship and backup support as needed. If you're a tech-savvy professional looking for an opportunity to make a significant impact in a dynamic environment, this role is for you. This is a hybrid, contract-to-hire opportunity, with compensation up to $50/hr., based on experience. Candidates must be willing and able to be on-site three days per week in order to be considered.
Responsibilities:

- Lead the administration of a new 100+ user Horizon VDI environment, including its infrastructure, support, storage, and security, under the guidance of the Director of Information Technology.
- Set up both Production and Disaster Recovery (DR) environments for optimal performance and redundancy.
- Execute monthly patch management to ensure system security and stability.
- Create, maintain, and update VDI images using VMware Horizon.
- Perform Windows server administration, addressing configuration, maintenance, and monitoring.
- Manage VMware infrastructure, ensuring the virtual environment's efficiency and reliability.
- Oversee user account management, including account setup, modification, and deactivation.
- Manage storage quotas and ensure efficient resource utilization.
- Administer Group Policy Objects (GPOs) for system configuration and security.
- Install, configure, and maintain hardware and software components, troubleshooting issues as they arise.
Requirements:

- Proven expertise in Windows 2019 administration.
- Proficiency in VMware administration, with experience setting up, configuring, and maintaining VMware environments.
- Familiarity with patch management systems, including WSUS or similar tools.
- Experience with Palo Alto firewalls and/or Cortex XDR is a significant advantage.
- Knowledge of PureStorage and VMware Horizon is highly desirable.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for addressing VDI issues and enhancing system performance.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team, supporting and mentoring junior staff.
- A proactive mindset, with the capacity to manage system upgrades and ensure optimal resource utilization.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills to coordinate with the IT team effectively.
