Senior Desktop Engineer
firstPRO is looking for a talented Consultant Desktop Engineer to join our team. This critical role focuses on ensuring the smooth deployment, management, and support of desktop systems for our clients. As a Consultant Desktop Engineer, you will utilize your expertise in Intune, SCCM, application packaging, deployments, imaging, and inventory control to enhance desktop environments. This is a 6-month consulting opportunity that requires 2 days per week onsite in Newark, Delaware. Compensation is up to $60/hr., based on experience.
Responsibilities
- Design, create, and manage application packages for deployment using SCCM and Microsoft Intune, ensuring proper configuration and distribution across client environments.
- Develop and maintain desktop images for various operating systems and configurations.
- Efficiently deploy these images to both new and existing systems, adhering to client requirements and best practices.
- Establish and maintain software and hardware inventory tracking systems, regularly updating databases to ensure accurate and current information.
- Oversee patch management processes, including the deployment and verification of updates.
- Generate detailed reports on patch status, compliance, and any encountered issues.
- Collaborate with clients to understand their IT needs and challenges, providing expert advice and support for desktop environment management, troubleshooting, and optimization.
- Create and maintain thorough documentation for processes, configurations, and deployments, ensuring all procedures are clearly documented and accessible for future reference.
- Diagnose and resolve complex issues related to desktop environments, including hardware, software, and network problems.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience in a desktop engineering role, with a strong background in managing and deploying desktop environments using Intune and SCCM.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Intune and SCCM for application management and deployment.
- Experience in creating and deploying desktop images.
- Knowledge of software and hardware inventory management.
- Ability to generate and interpret patch management reports.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate) are preferred.
- Strong problem-solving skills, excellent communication abilities, and the capacity to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
