- What do you do? What’s your day-to-day like?
- I am an IT contract recruiter, so I spend the majority of my day scouring the job boards and going through resumes to find the right candidate for the job I am working.
- What do you love most about the job?
- Nothing beats the feeling of closing a deal!
- What are the biggest challenges in your job?
- Definitely trying to understand all the tech language as someone who knows the bare minimum in terms of IT.
- What accomplishment are you most proud of?
- Honestly very proud of getting hired by firstPRO in the first place!! As well as the several placements I have made.
- What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever gotten?
- The rule of 3! For every 3 resumes, you look at, one may be worth a prescreen. For every 3 prescreens, you may get 1 submittal. For every 3 submittals, 1 interview, and for every 3 interviews, 1 offer. It really helps me to track my day and make sure I am on pace, as well as put things in perspective when things do not go my way.
- What are some of the standout factors you’re looking for when you match candidates with clients?
- Obviously, the required technical skills and certifications, but also, I find it helpful to hear what the hiring manager says and talks about what soft skills are important to them and listen for those as well.
- Do you stay in touch with your previous placements?
- Yes!
- What do you like to do for fun outside of work?
- I have a big group of close friends that love to have an event every weekend—from birthdays to weddings to going to a sports event, so they keep me busy. I also love to read and cook.
- If you could travel anywhere, where would you go?
- Dying to go to Australia and New Zealand…one day!!
